CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
C: About 0.43% - 0.48%
Mn: about 0.50% - 0.80%
Si: usually low, no more than 0.35%
P and S: Strictly controlled at lower levels.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Hardness: After quenching and tempering, the hardness is usually 35-45 HRC
Tensile strength: 570-690 MPa
Yield strength: 335-375 MPa
Elongation: 14-20%
HEAT TREATMENT
Normalizing: 820-870°C, holding time is 1 hour/25mm thickness, cool to room temperature
Annealing: Heating the steel to a certain temperature and then cooling it slowly. In the annealed state, the hardness usually does not exceed HV 160
Quenching: 820-890°C, water cooling or oil cooling can be used. The hardness after water quenching can reach HRC≥52, and the hardness after oil quenching can reach HRC≥50.
Tempering: 550-650°C, quench quickly after coming out of the oven.
